My boyfriend had the bright idea of going to Classic Burger one night while we were in LG. The nostalgia of going to Classic Burger during his high school years finally caught up to him. I've passed by Classic Burger many times but never had the food there, so I was totally down to try something new.

Classic Burger was a casual burger diner that looked like it was out of the 80s. What was cool was that when we arrived around 8pm on a Thursday there was a car club of Dodge Challengers, which attributed to the whole vintage vibe of the place. Even though there were a lot of people hanging out at Classic Burger at the time, I realized that we came just in time between dinner rushes. Our wait to order as well as the wait to receive our food weren't that long at all.

Customer service was great, and it was a women-run establishment, y'all! The ladies were super nice, and I mean, hats off to the tiny Asian lady grilling up the burgers. Ours were solid!

I got a single cheeseburger. The standard fixings included shredded lettuce (so much more clutch than whole lettuce leaves), red onions, tomato, and pickles. I added bacon and mushrooms as the premium add-ons. I really enjoyed my burger, and I was surprised by how large it was especially for the considerably cheap price. What you see is what you get. No frills. No special sauces. Straight up good flavor and quality ingredients. I also loved that the burger bun held up together well.

We couldn't leave without trying a shake. I was pretty stoked to see that they had a large variety of flavors, including my favorite flavor for shakes: banana. Again, solid shake! It was made with fresh bananas, the banana flavor wasn't an overkill, it wasn't too sweet, and the shake was thiiiick.

My first time here. I can make my own burger, hotdog, etc. Even my 4 y.o son could cook these items. but...what I came for was the steak sandwich. even offered as a special on a weekend day I believe.

Anyways. cool, old school place, nice enough staff, (1 woman doing all the counter work and cooking, etc.   So, maybe I'm particular about "steak" as in how thick the cut is, how exactly are you going to cook it, what exactly are you seasoning and typically topping with.
1)there was no choice in how it was cooked. flat iron grill, mashed the hell out of it, and so what I ended up with was a 1/16" hockey puck.  I requested nothing but meat, as I wanted to not smother this delicious, hand picked, choice cut of meat worthy of being served solely on its own glory. Steak, and all the juices that accompany a freshly cooked steak, no condiments to spoil the taste. I'll take them all on the side.

Well I had to pull the meat out, wipe off the mustard, pickles, mayo, and what I ended up with... I threw away 3/4 of the bun, all condiments(that I requested to have none so as to just taste the true beauty of a great steak.  i ended up stacking/breaking the very very well done "steak" into 3 pieces with my hands...yes its snapped into pieces. no knife...really no teeth necessary.  Needless to say. 3 bites, i had finished this 11$ steak sandwich and walked away almost disgusted.  They should take it off the menu.  No offense to the staff, cleanliness, etc.  I guess if there isn't a smoker out back or an actual grill with more than 1 person trying to make burgers, dogs, milkshakes, and then also a premium cut, perfectly seasoned and cooked with full attention steak...well it's too much to ask.

I'm sure the burgers, dogs, shakes, etc are great if that's what you're looking for.  I just have yet to find 1 single place in the bay area that can properly make a great steak sando. Sure every establishment wants to make their version of a Philly cheese steak sando. No. this is California. I just would love to find a place that prides themselves on a great, consistent, 1 1/2" steak, cooked to order, and let the customer add whatever he/she wants. Personally a great steak speaks for itself, doesnt need anything.  It does, however need to be thicker than 1/16" and I would hope that a rare/med rare steak properly sliced would be the norm if you're putting that on your menu, especially as a weekly special.  The bread and the...well the bread was good.  Steak was literally 3 bites. I threw the rest of the fluff away, not what I came for.

Hope this helps, stick with the burger or dogs if that's your thing, we can all make those at home in 15 min.  My steak prep for sandos takes over a day. smoking, seasoning, searing, then slow cooking it to perfection.  Again I'd love to hear of a place that really does take pride in every item on the menu.  This is item just one I'd avoid here.  Feel like I went to Mickey D's. really.

Classic Burger is a local mom and pop fast food hamburger place in Los Gatos. Walking inside Classic Burger is like walking back to 1980.

Nothing super fancy here. I like to order the patty-melt and fries. It's your typical run of the mill fast food joint, but the ladies are super friendly and the service is great.

You get a hamburger and fries for around $7.00 and change. It's a fair deal for cost.

This place is in my lunch rotation.

Classic burger really is a classic. I am not familiar with the history here but it looks to me to be a Fosters Freeze that stopped paying the franchise license. The food is good and the menu of items is large. They have daily specials. The service is quick and friendly. My only criticism is that it looks like remodeling stopped in 1986 so the building is looking a bit lived in. This doesn't bother me but keep this in mind if you are trying to impress a date.

Nostalgic, nostalgic, nostalgic AF. As a local in LG, Classic was always a place you will find yourself after little league, pop warner, with friends, with your family and more.

I know that it is nothing special but I think its the love these ladies put into the preparations and final execution of the dishes THAT MAKE IT EVER SO GOOD AND LEAVES YOU FEELING SO HAPPY.

If you don't know, get the raspberry chocolate shake! SO good!

As my friend ET said, Bump n grind, my mind is telling me NO! BUT MY BODY!!!!!BODY!!! TELLIN' ME YASSSS!

    Well said, ET.
